Annual Conference Information

Dear Amazing and Resilient Educator,

We are excited to invite you to the NJECC 35th Annual Statewide Educational Technology Conference.

For 35 years, our annual conference has been the largest and most important professional learning event focused on K-12 educational technology in the state of New Jersey. But in this unprecedented school year, participating in our conference has become even more important.

Whether you are teaching in or leading a fully virtual, hybrid, traditional or special education learning environment, we are confident that you will find many opportunities to grow professionally by engaging in one of the over 70 relevant workshops and presentations facilitated by educators just like you

CHECK OUT THE  CONFERENCE SCHEDULE HERE

This year, in order to maintain health safety protocols during the pandemic, our conference will be a virtual two-day event. Holding our conference virtually also offers a level of convenience and flexibility that the previous year’s events have not. If you are unable to attend the whole day because of a lack of substitute coverage or teaching schedule, you can simply drop in and out of the workshops and presentations you are interested in as you are available. What if you simply can’t make it to a session you were really hoping to attend? No problem. We will be recording and posting all of our breakout sessions so you may come back and view them at your convenience. Please note that workshops and roundtable sessions will not be recorded. Either way, we believe the virtual format will enable you to more fully customize your experience over the two days outlined below.

On Tuesday, March 9th, we will offer 60-minute breakout presentations and roundtable workshops on general educational technology and virtual teaching and learning topics as well as specialized tracks focused on special education and library and digital media. We will begin with our Apple sponsored Keynote Speaker, Michael Hernandez, an Apple Distinguished Educator. Michael is an award-winning teacher with the Manhattan Beach Unified School District in California and the founder of the school's Media Studies Program. Michael also hosts a well-regarded education podcast titled "Change the Narrative" where he interviews innovation leaders and searches for answers about how to innovate in education and the workplace.

On Wednesday, March 10th, we will be offering 90-minute “hands-on” workshops on a diverse slate of topics to meet your professional learning needs. The day will begin with Keynote Speaker Richard Hayzler, Principal of Pequannock High School.  We will follow with four successive sessions of breakout presentations and roundtable workshops. The conference will begin at 10:00 AM however, you may enter the portal at 9:00 AM to become familiar with how to navigate the virtual conference platform while visiting with some of our dynamic vendor partners and learning more about innovative products and services relevant to your needs.

We will follow with three successive sessions of 90-minute workshops. To make the most of your day, we suggest that you use two devices, one to follow along with the instructor (phone, iPad or computer) and a second device  (computer or Chromebook) to open up the application or internet site that is applicable to the workshop.
